Needs a small snip in the return at the top to allow it to curve back in. It will be spot welded along the return at the end so the panel will remain ridged once fixed in place. If need be the "snip" can be welded after bending. Just a thought...

That panel is massively complex. It has a compound curve with a reverse curve on one side and a tipped lip on the other side, and its a small panel to get all that shape into it. Over the years I have tried to master sheet metal work and panel making but to be honest I have had a lot more success making panels like that from strips of metal and TIG welding them together. You can then do it a bit at a time and generate the shape as you go.

To get the radius in the upper section, you need to stretch the flange, which will allow the space to achieve the radius.

Why not cut little wedges in edge

Is there a reason why John didn't use the shrinker on that boot lip, it surely would have put some curve back that was lost when it was turned. Keep up the good work, it's always fun and interesting.

Good evening ! I have to tell that I had a red peddle-car in early 1950 s! The dust cart used to park up for a tea-break adjacent to a neighbours house ! In those days the vehicle had a trailer into which ''salvage' materials, metal , cardboard etc would be placed ! I used to raid this trailer for stuff which is how I made my bicycles etc! one day I 'salvaged' a beautiful red peddle car ! It gave me & a late friend so much fun until it never peddled any more !! Thank you for these lovely video reports !

11/10 to Jon for perseverance. Not using that panel does not make it a failure, only that if the experience and lessons learnt along the way don't make the next go so much better.

I have to ask the obvious question; what is the purpose of resurrecting such a holey rusty wreck? A huge amount of work by two people, the cost of which can never be recovered; would it have been cheaper to buy a new one? Was it just an exercise to get wheeling experience? I'm impressed but also baffled.

Crikey, that's a ridiculous amount of work! All good practice I guess but it looks like you could make a complete new body more easily & quicker than restoring that old one. I saw some fibreglass bodies for sale at an autojumble recently...

With those particular panels Dom, I can’t help wondering whether a VW beetle panel (widely available), could be used and cut to fit. They have very similar curves, and could be a shortcut to save hours of time?
